Skinning Guides
There are a total of 11 primary professions of which only 3 are gathering professions and the rest are crafting professions. Skinning is not the most popular profession among players and is usually picked up by those who are leveling leatherworking, as leveling leatherworking without skinning can be insanely expensive. Like all professions skinning offers your character a stats boost, and if your character is level 85 then you will get an additional 80 critical strike rating. Skinning passive bonus can be good for dps classes that are dependent on critical strike chance like hunters, mages, feral druids, enhancement shamans, paladins and others; it's good but not great. This bonus is very low compared to the bonus of some other professions. However, gathering professions will allow you to level up faster as you gather materials across the world since for each material you gather you will gain experience - this will make it quite valuable when leveling a new character as it will speed up your leveling process.
Skinning is learned from skinning trainers which are located in every major city or settlement. If your new to skinning then make sure you pick up a skinning knife other wise you will not be able to skin dead animals, you purchase it off the vendor next to the trainer. Skin, scale and fur are acquired from killed beasts, dragons etc. Logically you cannot skin humanoids, elementals etc.
